Tour de France 2012 and recycling

Totally under the spell of the Tour de France 2012 I made some necklaces out of
the innertubes of my husbands racing bike.  Just tiny pieces of about 0.5 cm to 1 cm for these necklaces.

I would be such a nice initiative if 'the Tour' would recycle some of the tires that pop during the 'etappes'.

No idea what happens to this expensive natural material after the races.
Anyone ?

ps : they can send them to me ;-)

Playing with bike tyres

With some patience, rubber (a innerbiketyre)  and a needle I came to this result :
a choker and bracelet

Guitars, bicycles and recycling

As my son plays the guitar, I often get the guitarstring that has to be replaced.  As my hub takes his racingbike every day to do the 56 km to his work ... he often needs to replace a flat tyre.
So putting these two elements together, I made this recycled necklace.

Biking, recycling and jewelry

Our family goes to work or school by bike every day.  My husband works in another town and takes every morning his racingbike to cycle away about 56 km ! I am a lot closer to work ... so I have another bike with other kind of tires.  I reuse these tires to make rubber jewelry (a necklace and bracelet).  All little bits help to recycle !
