The result of following a workshop on 'tactile textile' at Mieke Recour.

Natural materials combined with techniques such as braiding, knotting, sewing, crocheting restulted in this lightweight colorful necklace.

A refreshing early morning walk before the start of a beautiful day at the seashore in De Haan. Heading for the workshop 'Hot Textiles' @ Mieke Recour.

 Some of Mieke's pretty silk, ceramic and felt creations in her workshoproom.

Coloring the bondaweb and making a collage with different materials on a frame and an old wooden box.

 Coloring of a light sheet of polyetheen with acrylic paint.

 Making fabric beads with the heat gun.

 A ring made out of a handcolored thick sheet of polyetheen.

  And some brooches in a combination of thick and thin sheets of polyetheen and fabric.

Lots and lots of try-outs to get some good ones,

 as it looks a lot simpler then it is.

About 2 weeks ago I attended a workhop given by Mieke Recour :

working with silk fibers (sieraden aan een zijden draadje)

The material and technique where totally new for me.

She gave us an introduction on coloring the fibers, shaping them into tiny flowers and round beads in the first session.

The second session (one week later) was used to make the

actual necklace and earrings.

She teached us how to bow silver into earrings, knot the cords and make a pretty necklace.

I enjoyed this workshop very much as Mieke is such a nice, calm and patient teacher.

The jewelry she makes is every so light to wear and has

very rich coloring as she tends to color the silk herself.

(she was also participating in the 1m² event)

If you are quick, you can still attend the workshop she is giving

next week.  

This necklace was not included in the workshop, but as I had

one flower left and some fimo beads, I made this one extra.

Workshop 'photography for bloggers'

I had the honour, privilige and luck (I was on the waitinglist) to join in on a workshop

about photography for bloggers at the very succesful event of VanKatoen

in the MIAT museum yesterday.

Elza D (you know the other famous one from the 'Allemaal Rokjes'-book) and Photo-Copy-Ann (foodphotographer from Zesta - ps try the recipe it's fantastic !) shared their passion and enthousiasm

for making pictures.

The official manual of my camera (about 250 pages)  was reduced by them

to just one  A4 sheet with

the most important techniques and tips for the use of a camera.

Now I really know what most of the buttons are used for on my camera.

At the end of the workshop we all had to make a 'test' :

one apple, a museum ... and of course a camera

SHOOT !

Hopefully you will see some difference in the quality of my

shootings in the near future.

Workshop : making findings

I loved to follow this workshop at Zahia.  I learned to make my own findings and earrings with copper and sterling silver thread.  Many more to be made in the future !

Masterclass workshop

Last week I attented a workshop given by Sylvie from Zahia in Brugge.  A masterclass in finishing of jewelry with 10 different techniques.  Very interesting indeed and useful. Today I'm having another workshop for making my own silver findings. You can never learn enough :-)

An original workshop

I am into workshops.  I follow them and give them myself (check my website - I give a kind of homepartieworkshops as I call them myself).  This weekend my daughter of 20 attended a workshop during a birthdayparty.  The theme was make-up yourself and get a lot of tips !
It is a pitty that she did not take any pictures.  I liked the thought of getting a private lesson to get the best out of my looks.
It were 2 young girls equipped with a whole lotta of make-up stuff that
came allong.
