London : tips for trips

We had a wunderful time in London.  Instead of visiting musea and popular sites, we strolled along markets and fun places.
The most popular markt, but not know by everybody yet, is definitely Camden Market.  This market is a mix of different cultures and colors. It's mostly visited during the weekend, and as it was a Bankholiday weekend, there were  a lot of people ! But we enjoyed.  Eating out is fun overthere because you have a choice of African, Turkish, Chines, Japanese, Spanish ... and only about 5 GBP a meal !  The shopping is all about alternative clothing, vintage, handicrafts ...

Next on our list was Old Spitalfieldsmarket.  And ancient building renovated and filled with vintage and handicraft.  Information on www.allinlondon.co.uk - also only opened on weekends for the stalls, the shops that are in the building are always open.

Last but no least on the list : Brick Lane Market ! Next to the most famous 'curryrestaurantsstreet' during the weekend this Lane is filled with stalls for vintage clothings, new designers, handicrafters, again international and exotic foodstalls ! We loved it !
We tasted Sri Lankan food, Thai, Falafel ... yummy !

A very very crowed British Museum where we tried to have a glimpse of old Minoan Jewelry.

Covent garden was on the list and strolling through Soho we found www.buffybeads.com a lovely gemstones-store ... where of course I couldn't resist !

We tried to visit Smithfieldsmarket to see where all the big chefs go get there superb ingredients, but we found it closed ! It opens up a 3 am ...

Ofcourse we wanted to see Portobello Road and Market again, but
we were late and they were closing down.  Due maybe to the cold and wet weather on Sunday !

These where some of the highlights of our family trip to London.

Hey Sandra, as I told you, Buffy's beads is the place to be when you adore beads. It's difficult not to spent all your money there! I hope you're not bankrupt!

THAT sounds like the perfect kind of holiday that I like, Sandra -- market shopping, 1 or2 museums, and eating! I'm glad you told us about your trip... Next time, take me with you? :)
